What inspires you?
Expression. I love the Expression spirit. It gives designers freedom to create. And the best thing is all their creative work will auto-generate code for developers to continue developing the functions.

How did you choose to work on this team with this product?
I love UI design. But when I give my design to developers, they have to recreate what I have already drawn. It is a waste of time and usually the re-creation process will lose the spirit of my initial design. When I heard of Expression, I absolutely loved the brilliant idea! So I decided to join in the effort to continue develop this product. International Project Manager for Expression is my dream job. I love to make software for International designers.

What’s your favorite feature? Why?
I love them all: Expression Web, Expression Blend, Expression Media, Expression Design, Expression Encoder, I love them all as they are all very interesting.

How long have you been a Microsoftie?
I started at Microsoft Beijing in 2000. It is going to be my 8th year.

What does your typical workday look like?
An International Project Manager's work is like putting puzzles together. We work with different parts of software development. I work with core software development engineers, making sure the software are designed in an International user-friendly manner. I work with the core software development team, making sure localized product’s schedule aligns with the English product schedule. Our localization work is done by vendors overseas. They translate our products into many different languages. I work with them to make sure they have everything they need to translate our product well. The busiest time at work is fixing Localization issues. I need to work with everyone to find out where the issues happen and how to solve them. That’s my work day. I enjoy it very much!

How do you like to spend your time outside of work?
I like to join our mother nature after work: hiking; boating; rollerblading; x-country skiing; traveling, etc. Or just walking with family and good friends is rewarding to me: the deep connection in the heart while enjoying the beautiful nature.
